You can install the MaxVolt on the main breaker panel as your first option for lowering your power bill. Let me explain why this works: The power companies have openly admitted that the power meter they have installed on your property is calibrated for the base frequency (60hz). Harmonics (other frequencies than 60hz) can cause the electric meter to read inaccurately and as a result, you could be billed for electric usage that you didn't even use.

Certain items in your home create magnetic fields (most electronics including transformers in computers, flat screen TV's, as well as refrigerators, air conditioners etc). These fields cause harmonics in your electrical system also known as "dirty power". The MaxVolt acts as a harmonic filter by filtering these harmonics and causing the power company's meter to read more honestly and accurately. The result is lower power bills. (Results may vary depending on how much "dirty power" there is to clean up.) This style of install will condition all of the items in your electrical system and only one MaxVolt is needed per electrical meter.

1. Prior to opening the breaker panel MAKE CERTAIN THE MAIN BREAKER IS IN THE OFF POSITION.

2. The power should remain OFF until the entire installation is complete.

3. The unit does not have to be on a dedicated breaker and does not violate any building codes, as it qualifies as a surge suppressor, and is not on a load on the electrical system. Therefore, it can be piggybacked.

4. Remove TAB's (knockouts) from the cover allowing access to the breaker. Feed the wires through your knockouts.

5. Secure the two RED leads (wires) of the unit to the double pole 20-30 amp breaker, (one on each terminal). Secure the GREEN wire from the unit to the ground bar in the panel. Leave the breaker in OFF position until power is restored to panel. Reinstall the panel cover securely.

6. Turn power (main breaker) back ON. Flip the breaker to ON and check that the indicator light is ON. This will indicate that the unit is ON and installation is complete.

7. If the light is NOT ON, turn power OFF and check to make certain good contact is made with two RED wires and the breaker. IF THE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON, MOST LIKELY YOU DO NOT HAVE 220/240VOLTS GOING TO THE UNIT'S BREAKER.

NOTES:
* The unit is enclosed in a rain proof box allowing it to be installed indoors or outdoors but CANNOT be installed under water.
* If your unit is humming, this is a sign that you are receiving high voltage. This will not damage the unit and can occur at various times.

WARNING:
Have your unit installed by a licensed electrician. Installing electrical equipment may result in shock, serious injury or even death.

CAUTION:
Electrical shock! DO NOT OPEN UNIT! There are NO serviceable parts. Disconnection of Protective Earth Conductor may impair the performance of this product. It is NOT recommended to put any switches or fuses in-line with the Earth Conductor.
